NAD (Cellular Energy)
When people think about the human body they like to make a comparison to a computer or a machine. The key difference is in how the human body produces energy. Unlike a machine that has a battery or an engine, the human body has no such part. In contrast, every single one of the 30 trillion cells in the human body is responsible for making its own energy. In essence, every cell in your body is its own battery.
Energy production in the cell is a function of tiny structures called mitochondria. The raw materials come from the food we eat and the oxygen we breathe. Carbohydrates, fat and protein are digested through a complex metabolic pathway to create ATP which is the energy source for all of our bodily functions. In this process, there is a molecule called NAD which is an essential cofactor in the production of ATP. It is so essential that ATP cannot be made without it.
NAD also performs many other processes in our cell (including a very specific inducer of certain anti-aging enzymes) but its production of ATP is of utmost importance.
NAD levels naturally decline with age and can be affected by other conditions such as extreme training, illness, stress, etc. so optimization of your NAD levels can improve energy production in your body. The result of optimizing NAD levels will be to create more energy for your body's functions. Some of the beneficial effects of NAD optimization include better memory and concentration, a feeling of higher energy, better mood, better sleep, improved skin/hair/nails, and anti-aging.
Red light and Hyperbarics:
Red light therapy has many benefits and effects on the body. One of the most important is mitochondrial stimulation which results in increased ATP (energy) production in the cells. Hyperbaric oxygen has been a mainstay of recovery and regenerative medicine for decades. A hyperbaric chamber treatment will result in increased oxygen delivery to the tissues which aids in recovery from injury as well as regeneration since new tissue growth relies on excellent oxygen supply. The combination of extra oxygen and increased energy helps stimulate regeneration and recovery in damaged tissues.
My cellular energy protocol, called the Optimus, utilizes a combination of NAD and key supplements which are are designed to boost and optimize your NAD levels.
