Peptides

What are Peptides?

The name “peptide” simply means protein or a chain of amino acids.  For our purpose, Peptides are a newer class of medication that are usually mimicking a subtance already found in our bodies such as hormones, enzymes and other signaling proteins.  These proteins in our body perform very specific beneficial functions.  The Peptide is a smaller or similar version of this natural protein that is already in you.  It is just concentrated and strengthened so we can have some control over its function.  For example, BPC-157 is a popular regenerative peptide.  BPC-157 was derived from a protein found in human stomach acid and its effect on the body is to stimulate and promote regeneration of damaged or injured tissues.  Another popular peptide is CJC 1295 which mimics the activity of a natural hormone in our bodies that stimulates our own natural growth hormone production.  The goal of many peptides is really to try and stimulate a natural process in your body that you already have to achieve the desired result.
